Obama Wonders Why He Can't Find The Space Needle In Washington, D.C. April 17, 2012

WASHINGTON—Still reeling from a hilarious misstatement in which Obama referred to "Malvinas" as "Maldives", the President has once again embarassed himself with a geographical gaffe.

"When I first arrived in Washington, I looked everywhere for the Space Needle," Obama told a group of reporters. The reporters chuckled.

"I heard that it was one of the coolest landmarks to see in Washington, so I looked everywhere for it. I also heard that there's this great restaurant there. I was looking forward to trying some of their Rocky Mountain Oysters, because I love food from Denver."

The Space Needle is in Seattle, Washington. Not Washington, D.C.

"But I couldn't find it anywhere," the President lamented. "It reminded me of the first time that I went to L.A. I looked everywhere for The French Quarter, and couldn't find it." Members of the press were once again amused.

While "L.A." is a two-letter state abbreviation for Louisiana, where The French Quarter exists, those two letters more often are used to abbreviate "Los Angeles".

"Also I looked for that giant ferris wheel in New London, Connecticut," Obama continued, "and I couldn't find it."

The President was apparently referring to "The Eye" - a large amusement ride in London, England and not in New London, Connecticut.

Obama concluded his press conference by wondering why he couldn't find either the College of Arts or the College of Sciences while at Columbia.

The President apparently thought he was at the University, and not the country.
