Uh-Oh: Cokie Roberts Says Rosen Comments Make Dems Look 'Snooty' April 15, 2012
Hey, isn't Cokie Roberts a card-carrying member of the lamestream media? Why is she reiterating Republican talking points?
We can take care of ourselves, Cokie. Thanks, anyway.
But I love you for this.
Appearing on ABC's This Week, Cokie and the gang were discussing the comments that all the world has heard which were made by Hilary Rosen last week.
In Cokie's own words: "But the fact is that it plays into an image of the Democrats as this out of - uh - out of touch with regular people and - uh - and elitist and kind of snooty" [Emphasis hers].
Ever willing to play defense for progressives, Ms. Roberts prefaced that statement with a "she really didn't mean it" qualifier.
Still, I like where she ended up.
And it's an important question that was never really raised properly during the whole (now benched) "war on women" strategy: Do liberals really understand the plight of the average American woman?
Of course, by "the plight of the average American woman", I am not talking about taxpayer-subsidized birth control. That is probably issue #4,556 on her list of priorities.
But Democrats tried to make it #1.
Another question: Do elitist Democrats understand, as Cokie put it, "regular people"?
Considering that "regular people" by a strong majority disapprove of their signature health care legislation, I'd say that, at best, they don't understand.
More likely: They don't care.
