Liberals: Romney Failing To Attack Rush Is An Assault On Women's Health

Yeah, they're really saying that.

Annie-Rose Strasser, writing for and with the consent of Think Progress, a web site dedicated to progressive liberal causes, cyber-inked an article entitled "Romney's Top 5 Assaults To Women's Health." The article is basically the inane regurgitation of left-wing talking points from the past several weeks (viz., that there is a Republican "war on women").

These talking points have been debunked repeatedly. There is no need to repeat those rebuttals here.

But Item #4 in that list is especially priceless: "Romney failed to condemn Rush Limbaugh's characterization of Sandra Fluke as a 'slut.'"

And there you have it. Romney is assaulting women's health because he said "it's not the language I would have used" instead of using much harsher language and flat-out condemning Rush's statements.

So now we're down to women's health being "assaulted" (Annie's word) because of how a politician phrases a response to Rush Limbaugh. Or, as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it's based on how the listener parses that poltician's statement.

You see, if Romney had said, "Rush should be ashamed of himself for saying that", Annie might have viewed that as a mild attack on women's health, versus a direct assault. Because the language still wouldn't be strong enough.

Of course, if Romney had borrowed a line from Keith Olbermann, and lamented the fact that Rush's parents didn't have an abortion, then we're all certain that the good folks over at Think Progress would have considered this a giant leap forward for women's health.

The good news: If this is the best that liberals can do, it's going to be a very enjoyable election season.
